Welcome to the Culbone Stables Inn
Fine dining & comfortable Bed and Breakfast with private bathroom
Culbone Stables Inn offers quality bed and breakfast accomodation close to Porlock on Exmoor. The traditional coaching inn is situated at the top of Porlock Hill at the head of the Doone Valley with panoramic views across the old Royal Exmoor Forest.
This traditional Exmoor Pub offers luxury b and b with 5 double en-suite bedrooms, and offers fine food and a good choice of local beers and fine wines. The standard of bed and breakfast rooms is very high for a country pub and the position of it makes it an excellent base for walking and enjoying the Exmoor countryside. |

The Inn serves the very best Exmoor fayre served in a warm and friendly atmosphere. You can enjoy a crackling open fire in winter or open air eating with unbeatable views over the Exmoor hills in the summer.
One thing you can be assured of is the best meats on Exmoor. Sourced from our own farming family’s traditional butcher shop in Minehead we challenge you to find a better steak anywhere! Melt in the mouth fillet steaks - or how about a 32oz T Bone steak to get your teeth into.
|
The Inn is perfectly situated as a base for exploring Exmoor, whether by foot, car, horse or bike. The Traditional Exmoor Inn has looked after travellers for many years and was a welcome stop for the horses on their arduous trip up Porlock Hill on their way to Lynton, in North Devon.
Our five recently converted en-suite bed and breakfast rooms have their own individual character and are fully equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, TV and radio alarms.
The b & b rooms are named after long established Exmoor families and no doubt if you spend some time in the Inn’s bar you will hear the names being mentioned, and possibly even meet some of the them! |

Gerald David & Family Butchers took over the pub in August last year. It has been a dream of our family to be able to cook and serve our own meats.
With our own abattoir in Porlock and buying from local farmers the David family know we can truly stand by our statement of traceability ‘from pasture to plate’.
The fish comes from our own shop in Minehead and cheeses come from our Delicatessen in Minehead. |
| As the highest Inn on Exmoor the views are panoramic and is an ideal base to walk the South West Coast Path or explore the nearby towns of Porlock, Porlock Weir, Lynton, Lynmouth, Dunster or Minehead. |
The Surrounding Area
The position of Culbone Stables Inn makes it an ideal place to explore Exmoor National Park, the Quantocks, North Devon, and Somerset. It is close to Porlock, Lynton, Lynmouth, Minehead and Dunster.
There are plenty of places to explore with Culbone Church – reputed to be the smallest church on Exmoor only a couple of miles away from the Exmoor Inn.
Positioned high on Exmoor it is an excellent base for walking the South West Coast Path, and is close to Porlock and the Coleridge Way and you can walk straight out of the inn’s door right onto Exmoor. It is also on a mountain biking route with trails leaving from the car park.
We can organise riding or mountain biking for you to explore the area. |
